ARDEN, NC – Alan Guyton, a truck driver from Flat Rock, received a $ 150,000 prize delivered to him during a Powerball spin, according to a news release by the NC Education Lottery.
Guyton bought his $ 3 Power Play ticket at Enmark Market on Hendersonville Road in Arden.
The Quick Pick ticket beats odds of 1 in 913,000 to match four of the white and red balls in the October 21 draw to win $ 50,000.
His prize tripled to $ 150,000 as the 3X multiplier was drawn.
“It’s a wonderful thing,” Guyton said of his victory. “I just didn̵7;t expect it.”
Guyton took his prize on Friday at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh.
After being asked for state and federal tax withholding, he took home $ 106,126.
“This money will help the people I love most,” Guyton said. “And it will help me retire.”
No one won the Powerball jackpot on Saturday. The jackpot rose to $ 137 million as an annuity prize or $ 106.6 million in cash for Wednesday’s draw.
