Why the Packers vs. Thursday night match 9 of Packers vs. 49ers will not be rescheduled regardless of the case of Green Bay COVID-19

The Green Bay Packers are facing their own COVID-19 issue, though they will not affect their Week 9 match against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday. The NFL revealed the Packers-49ers game is still scheduled for Thursday, even though Green Bay had a case of COVID-19 positive due to a rerun of AJ Dillon.

In addition to the positive Dillon test results, the NFL identified both Jamaal Williams and rookie defender Kamal Martin were designated as high-risk individuals. and was told to be away from the team until Saturday. Dillon, who was infected, came into close contact with Williams and Martin on Sunday ̵

1; hence a 5-day incubation period. Both players were away from the team’s base and were not in practice.

So why will this game be played as scheduled when other NFL games, notably two New England Patriots games and a Tennessee Titans game with Buffalo Bills have been moved to Tuesday in Week 5 of the season ?

One part is that Green Bay is traveling to San Francisco, unlike New England and Tennessee whose games are postponed. Both the Patriots and Titans have home matches during the COVID-19 outbreak, where other teams will enter facilities that have recently had positive test results.

The other part is that only three players have been quarantined. That number could clearly go up if there are other positive tests over the next three days, which could put Thursday Night Football in even more danger. The NFL did not set clear lines on the number of cases needed to lead to rescheduling.

Packers will be thin when running back because Aaron Jones’s condition is in doubt, as he has missed two of the last three games due to a calf injury. Green Bay relies on Dexter Williams and Tyler Ervin as the only fully healthy backer – and the Packers will have to activate Williams from the training team. Ervin actually plays and practices like a broad recorder.

CBS Sports Fantasy analyst Chris Towers, writing for Fantasy Football Today, offered this advice to managers who have Jones or Jamaal Williams on their team:

“It may be worth it to put a small bid on Ervin or Dexter Williams in case the Packers top three defenders fail to do this. Ervin was used primarily as a pass catcher, so Williams'” There was a lot more chance of handling these dips against this tough match. Nothing more than a desperate curling game. “

As for Packers, the situation certainly looks less than ideal, especially if star Jones is forced to take a third consecutive break.
