JACKSON COMPANY LTD, ores. – With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing statewide, the number of active workplace cases is increasing.
There have been three recent workplace outbreaks in Jackson County, according to the Oregon Health Authority. Amy’s Kitchen is the largest with 63 cases. Public health investigations began in July, with the most recent case in late October.
Dr. Jim Shames of Jackson County Public Health said, “the workplace outbreak is a small part of the canary in the coal mine. They remind us that there is a considerable amount of disease out there. ”;
Costco and Andersen Construction Company are the most recent booms, starting from early to mid-October. Costco currently has 11 cases related to its outbreak. Andersen Construction has 16 according to OHA. Dr. Shames said that a few months ago Jackson County had a positive rate of 1%, now 10%.
