The turkey is the most iconic part of the Thanksgiving dinner, and doesn’t take away its shine or anything, but it’s definitely not the best part of the meal. My friends, as we all know, that’s really all in terms of, and this year, a survey found that when it comes to our favorites, Americans are amazed.
Career website Zippia recently released a state-by-state favorite American Thanksgiving map. They used Google trends to find favorites of over 20 traditional side dishes to see which one won. It’s not a perfect system because each family serves something a little different but it̵7;s still fun to look at!
It’s no surprise that mashed potatoes are the top choice, becoming a delight in 10 different states. Is it really Thanksgiving without a hint? The next Mac ‘n cheese is a delicacy from all seven states, and thinking about it I was already hungry. Some of the other top candidates are stewed, rolled and stuffed green beans. It turns out people love carbs! Not surprisingly.
This map also highlights some regional differences, such as stuffing versus dressing and rolls versus biscuits. Some states do it their own way, such as Maine being the only one that likes salads the most, and Indiana offering scrambled eggs. All I know is that all of your Thanksgiving menus sound pretty good, and I’m happy to fill my plate with everything on this map. You can see the full breakdown on Zippia’s page.
