LUMBERTON, Texas – A father in Lumberton said his teenage daughter lost a protracted battle with COVID-19 at a Houston hospital.
Kevin Swearen’s daughter, Charlee, is fighting the coronavirus at Texas Children’s Hospital. Sw swearen spoke to 12News in September about the hospital visitation policy allowing only one guest with a COVID-19 patient. The hospital eventually changed its policy, allowing Sw to swear to stay with his wife and daughter.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Sw vowed, “Heavenly Father, I come to you to ask you to take good care of my Charlee Choo! Make sure she doesn̵7;t struggle anymore!” Make sure she can walk and talk. “
Charlee also lives with Rett’s syndrome, a rare genetic mutation that affects brain development in girls. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 and spent time ventilating while in the hospital.
His post continued, “Thank you for allowing me to have 17 years of the greatest soul I have ever met. I will always love and cherish her as long as I am here.”
