NEW YORK – New York Yankees will move the smaller divisions of the tournament out of Staten Island and Trenton, New Jersey, by 2021 as part of a reshuffle that is affecting teams across disciplines.
The Yankees Double-A Trenton will move to Somerset, New Jersey. The Class A club that has been on Staten Island since 1999 will move above the Hudson Valley, formerly a subsidiary of Tampa Bay Rays.
Triple-A Scranton / Wilkes-Barre, where the Yankees’ replacement coaching during the pandemic shortening season, will remain New York’s flagship branch. The Tampa branch that used to be in the A Florida State League high will move to the lower A tier.
The Yankees will also keep a Gulf Coast League team in Tampa and a club in Dominica for the summer. Class A Charleston and Rookie Level Pulaski won̵7;t be affiliated with the Yankees next year.
