A man in his 30s was detained on Friday outside his East Los Angeles home pending a search involving a threat of alleged violence if the former Deputy General Joe Biden won the presidential election, law enforcement sources told NBC News.
Local law enforcement agency, unidentified of the man, is working with the FBI to gather more information regarding a social media post threatening violence should Biden beat President Donald Trump.
“The FBI is aware of the reported online threats and is working with our partners to investigate,” office spokesperson Laura Eimiller said by email. “Subject is currently being assessed by state officials. The federal government has not made any arrests nor filed charges at this time.”;
She added, “There is no threat to public safety based on this incident.”
Typically, people involved in such searches will be removed from internal locations and handcuffed when law enforcement removes relevant evidence.
