The first Minecraft Caves and Cliffs snapshot has come live

The Minecraft’s Caves and Cliffs update is ready for you to play – at least during testing. Caves and Cliffs snapshots are now available online, so you can try them out with the loads of new features that will be featured in 1.17. These include amethyst, copper, packs, and more, all before the proper Minecraft 1.17 release date.

To install the new 20w45a snapshot, as with any other snapshot, you need to get a launcher for Minecraft: Java Edition. (Sorry, Bedrock player, there’s no snapshot support on that version.) Create a new profile, then go to the settings tab and make sure the snapshot box on the right is checked. Once done, you’ll be able to select the snapshot you want to play, and easily switch back and forth between it and your standard settings.

The snapshot does not include everything that would lie within the cave cliffs, but it does include things like amethyst geological code, which can be mined in any cave in the underworld. You can craft amethyst blocks, they will make a sound when you touch them, and you can even plant your own amethyst clusters.

You̵

7;ll also be able to use bundles, which allow you to combine stacks of any item together, and minable copper you can use to craft lightning rods, once available. placed will protect you from being sneaked in the vicinity. Of course, you can craft copper blocks for all of your Statue of Liberty building pieces, and they’ll even oxidize over time.

You can view the full patch notes on the official website. Maybe we could get you interested in some nice Minecraft seeds to try out in the process?
