A Dillard’s spokesperson said they understood that the shooting took place in the mall, not at Dillard’s.
A woman working at one of the stores told Local 10 News that everyone in the mall ran away when they heard gunshots.
Hannah Francis, who works at Dillard’s Shoe Show, said: “Suddenly we heard a loud bang… it looked like the roof had fallen. And then suddenly we heard like four shots and everyone started running.
“To be honest, it’s traumatic,” she added. “Even though you don’t see anything, just hear it and know that someone is hurt, no matter what happened, that’s scary.”
Pablo Perez, who is also in the mall, said he heard four or five gunshots and then saw people running and screaming.
