Since defeating defending national champions LSU in Week 1, Grade 1 under Mike Leach’s leadership has not gone well for the State of Mississippi. The Bulldogs manage to back up their loss with a 24-17 win over Vanderbilt, but it sucks.
In that defeat, the Commodores outperformed the MSU 478-204 in total yardage. As one would expect, Leach and his staff are facing some criticism for its lackluster offense. Pirate is not interested. In a lengthy response during her post-match press conference, Leach raised an eyebrow to call the fans “impatient”:
“… But, you know, people not on board are impatient. Maybe they can choose another team or maybe they can coach their own team and I think you can gauge how their team is performing and see how it all plays out. “
SEC Network analyst Gene Chizik shared his reaction to Leach̵7;s comments on “SEC Football Finals”.
“The fans don’t really understand,” said Chizik. “We know they’re really annoying, but the bottom line is they don’t feel as upset as the players who spend 20 hours a week trying to get ready for the game, the coaches that feed their families that way . His opinion is well done. The players and coaches are more annoyed, exponentially more angry than any fan ever thought of it. But I will say this about Mike Leach. He will say what he thinks. He doesn’t really care what you think. He will coach the way he trains. He will not change. I respect that for a bit ”.
Leach’s Bulldogs will seek to reinstate the offense before Auburn on Saturday.[H/T 247Sports]
