Maya Rudolph, Alec Baldwin and Jim Carrey starred in the cold opening.
Latest episode of Live Saturday night season 46 airs the same day as the results of the 2020 presidential election. Prior to that on November 7, Joe Biden was elected the 46th President of the United States, and SNL cold open was later joined by Jim Carrey in his recurring role as former vice president.
Beck Bennett plays Wolf Blitzer, and Alex Moffat plays John King in a fake CNN Biden claiming victory. Bennett’s Blitzen joked that it was the longest week in American history. “I never felt that way, ironically because I don’t live like that,” Carrey’s Biden said.
Maya Rudolph appears as Kamala Harris, who will be the first female vice president in US history. “The reason your mom laughs a lot tonight is because she̵7;s drunk, and the reason she’s crying is because she’s drunk,” Rudolph’s Harris said.
Carrey’s Biden says they don’t pat anyone’s head about victory, but Rudolph’s Harris says they did a bit, and the two exploded in a dance.
Alec Baldwin is sure to appear as Trump, whose reelection campaign has failed. “They’re trying to steal the election from me,” Baldwin’s Trump said before shouting “stop counting.” Carrey’s Biden had to tell Baldwin’s Trump that he was a failure.
