The Washington football team was quick to abandon the removal of Derrius Guice from their roster after he was arrested for domestic violence last week and head coach Ron Rivera discussed that decision in a Monday’s video meeting with reporters.
Rivera said he spoke to the team players about his call to cut off Guice and told them it was in the best interest of our organization to continue without Guice. He said the team would benefit if that was the right call and would fall on him if not, but he took on “full responsibility as we move forward to make sure we try to do everything. in the right way. ”
Rivera said: “It’s a very difficult decision when you have to bring out a talented young player. “This kind of situation, this kind of situation, we take those allegations very seriously.”
Linebacker Reuben Foster landed with Washington after being cut off by 49ers following a 2018 domestic violence arrest that did not lead to criminal charges. Foster was removed from the PUP list this weekend and Rivera said every situation will be treated differently without saying whether there are other factors that will keep the team going without Guice.
