Rio Ferdinand believes Diogo Jota has put Roberto Firmino under ‘huge pressure’ at Liverpool following his Champions League hat-trick against Atalanta on Tuesday.
Jota replaced Firmino at Bergamo after coming on as a substitute and scored the decisive goal in a 2-1 win over West Ham United last weekend.
The Portugal international has scored 10 goals in his first nine appearances for Liverpool and with Firmino scoring just once, his place in the team could be threatened ahead of a trip to Manchester City on Sunday .
Ferdinand said: “I̵7;m sure Firmino will be sitting there composing a small replay list to give Klopp a reminder of what he can do.
“Firmino, like it or not, will want to get started and this guy puts him under great pressure.”

Jota is just six points behind the points he achieved in all competitions for Wolverhampton Wanderers last season and Ferdinand has been impressed playing his link with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in Italy.
Ferdinand continued: “He’s in a better team, getting more chances,“ Maybe he had more chances during his time at Liverpool compared to last year at Wolves. “
