If your iPhone is running low on storage and you use WhatsApp, it’s possible that videos, voice messages, and photos stored in the app are taking up significant space. While you can always delete WhatsApp media, the process is now a lot easier …
WhatsApp is releasing a new and improved way to manage app storage, making it easy for users to identify, select, and batch delete content that might be filling their phones.
WhatsApp now offers easy cleaning suggestions by voting for both large files and media that have been forwarded multiple times, sorting files by size in descending order, and providing a way to preview files before deletion them. You can also preview the media before selecting one or more items to delete.
For example, media flagged as ̵6;forwarded multiple times’ won’t be your own, so the app will let you select all and then delete all. As for the rest, you can see which files are taking up the most space and selectively delete them.
An update will roll out globally this week. You can check it out by going to Settings> Memory & Data> Memory Management. Check out the video below to see how it works.
The display shows the Android version, but the same feature will appear on iOS as well.
Last month’s update allows you to permanently hide group chats if you’re not interested in the content but don’t want to offend by explicitly leaving the conversation.
