Panthers break the trick game, with fleaflicker for TD and successful fake game

CHARLOTTE, NC – Curtis Samuel became “Mr. Third Down” for the Carolina Panthers, but it was the broadcaster’s first encounter with the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night that drove the highlight reel.

Running back Mike Davis handled and pitched the ball back to midfielder Teddy Bridgewater, who found Samuel opening down the left flank for a 29-yard touch in the second half.

The play comes shortly after Samuel catches a 3-yard pass in the third and second innings, his 15th third start of the season and the 12th NFL lead for the first kill.

Samuel opened the scoring for Carolina with a hasty touch on the ball in the first quarter after the line ran backwards, giving him three games in his NFL career with a quick score and pick up. It is the second most numerous number in Carolina history after 8 by Christian McCaffrey.

With McCaffrey absent for a sixth straight game with a high ankle sprain, Samuel was used more than ever as he was at Ohio State, where he played backwards and forwards.

The Panthers turned to rookie defender / safety-back Jeremy Chinn for another hoax in the third quarter. Facing fourth and ninth place from their own 32nd team, they won it directly for the NFL’s Defense Rookie of the Month in the match and he took first place.
