Steve Cohen’s first photo as a Mets owner can be an encouraging one.
The hedge fund billionaire’s wife, Alex, tweeted a photo of her and Cohen after he formally bought Mets from Wilpons for $ 2.4 billion on Friday. The picture shows the couple at home, Cohen crossed his legs and wearing a Mets and Alex hat next to wearing a Mets-themed shirt from NineteenEightySixed reading “You Gotta Believe in Uncle Steve” with a heart for text “V” in Steve.
“Celebrating together tonight – thanks to all your notes, we’re so excited,” Alex wrote along with the photo.
Mets are relying on lifelong fan pockets – Cohen worth more than $ 14 billion – to help turn the franchise around and take home their first World Series title since 1986. While his wife thanks the Staten Island-based clothing line for this shirt, Mets fans can only hope Cohen accepts the fan-base’s idea of becoming the rich uncle.
