The young patient, age and identity not publicly disclosed, was the first in the county to become infected this year, according to the Orange County Health Care Authority.
So far, California has seen 10 infections by 2020.
Symptoms of the virus include fever, headache, nausea, and rash. Symptoms can last from a few days to a few months.
“The best way to avoid West Nile virus infection is to take preventative measures to avoid mosquito bites,” said Dr. Clayton Chau, who holds the position of Health Care Agency Director and Director The county̵7;s interim health care provider said.
