Officials reported 218 new COVID-19 cases, 5 new virus-related deaths

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Commissioner Kevin Wolff updated the community on local responses to the COVID-19 during their daily briefings on Friday evening.

Nirenberg reported a total of 67,1

27 COVID-19 cases and 1,273 total deaths in Bexar County, as of Friday, an increase of 218 new cases. Five new deaths have been reported today.

The 7-day moving average of the cases is 218.

City officials also reported that 253 patients were hospitalized, 111 were in the intensive care unit and 52 were on mechanical ventilation. There are 10% of staff beds and 66% of ventilators.

Nirenberg said there were 46 COVID-19 patients from El Paso in hospitals in San Antonio when the border city had a spike in cases.
