In response to a report that the 49ers Kendrick Bourne’s recipient may have produced a false positive COVID-19 test on Tuesday, the NFL confirmed that he did not.
“So far there have been 104 cases with a positive test result then a negative the next day,” a union spokesman said in a statement. “101 times it has been shown that individuals are positive with the next test.”
Positive test has been confirmed. Hence, as of Tuesday, Bourne was active. It doesn’t matter if he tests negative on Wednesday, Thursday, or beyond.
And nothing changed the fact that the protocols had already begun, and the 49ers would not have Bourne or players contacted him closely on Thursday night against the Packers.
