The latest Nest thermostats aren’t the only models that can tell you if your HVAC system has a problem. Even older models will get this feature, now the Google-owned brand has implemented HVAC monitoring for all Nest thermostats across the US and regions of Canada. According to software engineers from the Nest team, they began working with HVAC supervision two years ago as a side project. The company began testing the feature earlier this year, sending Nest Home Report subscribers a warning if the system detects a problem with their heating, ventilation or AC.
Nest̵7;s HVAC monitoring will send you an alert via email or the Google Home app if you notice any signs of malfunction. You will receive emergency alerts about issues that may require immediate attention, such as if your home gets colder even if heating is turned on. Nest will also send you an early warning within a week of discovering non-urgent problems, such as if your heating or power supply stops repeatedly.
