More than 60 cases of COVID-19 were reported at the Lewiston detox facility



The Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday night that more than 60 cases of COVID-19 infections are being reported at a Lewiston rehabilitation facility. The Maine CDC says the facility is conducting further on-site testing, so more cases are likely to be identified. The Maine CDC says its outbreak response team is working with the facility to arrange additional testing, provide adequate personal protective equipment and ensure proper procedures are in place.

Health officials said 44 residents and 20 employees at the Center for Rehabilitation and Living in Russell Park had tested positive for the virus.

That was one of a number of new outbreaks reported on Friday.

The Maine CDC says the facility is working on additional testing, so more cases are likely to be identified.
