Two of America’s most famous female athletes say they will get married.
Professional soccer player Megan Rapinoe announced her engagement on Friday after proposing to her longtime girlfriend, WNBA defender Sue Bird.
Rapinoe posted a photo on Instagram showing her on one knee, placing the engagement ring on Bird’s finger by an infinity pool overlooking the water.
Bird’s team, Seattle Storm, congratulated the couple on Twitter, writing that it was “Bell Season”. Storm recently won the championship of the tournament.
Rapinoe also plays for a Washington state football team, CV Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League based in Tacoma.
