Technically, it should have started already. But there’s a lot of fans who don’t know about Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man in 2021
In most, Spiderman: Far from home serves as a characteristic length in tribute for Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). After all, Holland’s Peter Parker is Stark’s protector in the MCU. And the Spidey sequel sees Peter lose his mentor and find his own way in the superhero world. Of course, the mid-credits scene changed everything.
After the death of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), the late supercriminal has one last trick at hand: a video message for the world. And it was J. Jonah Jameson – again played by the Oscar-winning JK Simmons – who revealed the secret identity of Spider-Man to the world. Presumably, this means the webslinger will be the one running from justice the next time he hits the big screen.
