Giant defensive defender Logan Ryan shared a terrifying story that took place after Monday night’s game with the Buccaneers. His wife, Ashley, flew to her home in Florida on Tuesday to vote and check out their home.
Ashley experiences “extreme pain” in her stomach and tells Ryan that she will “go to sleep.”
Instead, Ryan called in Giants’ assistant sports coach Justin Maher, who advised Ashley to seek immediate medical help. Ryan credits Maher for saving her life.
“My wife went to the clinic and ended up having an ectopic pregnancy, where the egg was in the wrong place in her fallopian tube and it was about to burst,”; Ryan said. “In the end she had to go to emergency surgery. That’s what I’m dealing with right now. In the end they saved her and in the end stopped so many things they could have done. It was a coach on our team, Justin Maher, who told my wife to go to the emergency room at 1am and could have saved her life or saved a lot of blood in there. That’s the kind of organization we have here. ”
Ryan played four seasons with the Patriots before three in Tennessee. He has been alongside former Patriots assistant coach Joe Judge with the Giants for this season.
Ryan expressed gratitude to coach Joe Judge and the organization.
“Joe said,“ If you need to fly to Florida, don’t worry about football, ”Ryan said. “Joe is a man and a coach. I know we care about X and O, win and lose, but there are really good people here. That’s why I came here. There are really good trainers here. There are actually a lot of people backstage working so hard to make us win. I’m going to do all I can to play for such a coach and play for an organization like this, because if it isn’t, I don’t know if my wife is here today. Honestly, I am extremely grateful to this organization and to Joe as well as to let everyone understand that there is bigger than football, especially this year.
