A large number of police present reacted to the scene as several people dressed in black gathered near the arena.
“Due to a huge and unruly crowd, the LAPD declared the organization illegal and issued a disbandment order in the area of the northwestern corner of Pico & Figueroa,” the LAPD tweeted. “At this point, anyone in the area must leave immediately and obey any orders from any police. This area is currently closed.”

The group was walking down Figueroa Street around 8 p.m., and hours after the illegal meeting was announced, several protesters were arrested near Washington Avenue and Hope Street.
Some individuals wearing helmets or kneeling feet were stopped by police and detained for questioning, LAPD said. Officers also set up a fighting line near the Convention Center at the time the illegal meeting was declared.
The exact number of those arrested is not known immediately.
The LAPD issued a city-wide tactical warning on Tuesday afternoon, though the agency said the decision was “to secure enough resources to address any issues that may arise from activity on Election Day, but not the result of any particular incident. ”
