Washington midfielder Kyle Allen was forced out of Sunday’s game with the Giants with an apparent left leg injury.
Allen was back for the pass at the end of the first quarter when his foot was hit by the Jabrill Peppers ‘safety Giants’ leg. Peppers were knocked off their feet while flushing and his leg licked Allen’s leg with enough force to cause a rather serious wound.
Washington will now be supported by Alex Smith, who is all too familiar with serious leg injuries. We certainly hope that Allen’s illness is not as serious as the case that kept Smith absent for almost two years.
The Giants are leading 10-0, but Washington was in their territory when Allen played a curtain-down match. Peppers were punished for unnecessarily rude behavior, so Smith took someone else down first.
UPDATE 1:57 p.m. ET: Allen has been disqualified from what the Washington Football Team officially called an ankle injury.
