Harvick led 92 of the 161 laps at No. 4 Ford Stewart-Haas Racing. His fifth win of the season was his fourth at Michigan and his 54th win of the Cup Series career.
Brad Keselowski took second place in Team Penske No. 2 Ford. Martin Truex Jr finished third with Ryan Blaney fourth and Busch finishing five people on top finish.
Harvick has completed both phases, dedicating two playoff points to use in the 10 post-season races, starting next month. His last pass to the lead was a close-range header with Busch in Round 148, a move of air from the back of the No. 18 Toyota and nearly forcing Busch against the outside wall during Round 4.
The start was delayed for nearly an hour to avoid overlapping with the end of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America. The Xfinity event – won by Team Penske’s Austin Cindric – was halted for about 90 minutes due to lightning strikes near the Wisconsin road area.
The next Cup Series race is the Consumers Energy 400, scheduled for Sunday (4:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, MRN, SiriusXM) at the 2-mile Michigan track.
