John Legend on Monday threw shade at rap musicians, who claimed to support President Donald Trump in the 2020 election – even suggesting a name for their super group.
The musician, speaking at a driving rally in Philadelphia for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, told fans that “some of your favorite rappers had previously been captured” by lies. by Trump.
Lil Wayne and Lil Pump have endorsed Trump in recent days. Rapper 50 Cent, meanwhile, favors public support for the president after a backlash.
“I think they even formed a new super group, it̵7;s called Sunken Place,” the Legend quips, seemingly referring to the scene of the same name in director Jordan Peele’s Get Out.
The legend warns people not to be defeated by Trump’s promises.
“You can’t believe what he said,” said the singer. “Ask the Trump University students. Ask all the contractors for which he is speechless. Ask the people his charity is supposed to help with before it gets shut down for scams. Ask all black and brown Americans who are dying of this virus and losing their jobs on his watch.
“The president is not strong. He’s a coward, ”Legend continued. “And his career in business and in government has failed after failure.”
