Today, Apple started rolling out iOS 14.2, iPadOS 14.2, tvOS 14.2, and watchOS 7.1 for supported devices. The last update for iOS and iPadOS was iOS 1

4.1 on October 22.

New versions of iOS and iPadOS add 100 new emojis, including “animals, food, faces, household objects, musical instruments, sexist emojis and more” , according to the release notes. iPhones and iPads have a new Shazam button in the control center. Shazam, acquired by Apple just over two years ago, algorithmically identifies songs by listening to them using the in-device microphone. Prior to acquisition, it was also used as an audio QR code to trigger marketing in TV ads and the like.

There are also some changes related to the AirPods, including changing battery charging to preserve battery life (something Apple has implemented on other devices) and letting you know when your volume level is up. high enough to damage hearing. Apple promised this to iOS 14 when it launched.

Finally, there are eight new wallpapers (for dark and light modes, each), new HomePod features and optimizations, and lots of other minor fixes and features and changes.

The Update for the Apple Watch – watchOS 7.1 – also comes with today’s iOS and iPadOS releases. It adds support for more fitness tracking features in Russia and South Korea, introduces similar headphone volume notifications in iOS / iPadOS, and fixes some bugs.
