Governor Cuomo said that all tourists should be checked for COVID-19

New York has removed its list of quarantined travel advisers, replacing it with a strict new blanket inspection policy, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Saturday.

Under the new rules, tourists from most states in the group are required to present proof of negative test results performed within three days of arriving in New York, and also require an additional three days of isolation – and receive a new COVID-19 on Wednesday.

If that is positive, they must quarantine for two weeks, the governor said at an Albany press conference.

“Four days plus three days is seven, and basically it’s the incubation period,” said Cuomo as he announced 2,049 new cases statewide and eight deaths yesterday.

“There will be no figures. There will be a nationwide rule, the Governor said.

Anyone who refuses to be tested is quarantined for 1

4 days.

In the past, there was a mandatory two-week quarantine run on travelers from areas considered to have high or increased COVID-19 cases.

The testing policy applies to every state except New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, Cuomo said.

He added, people traveling between bordering countries are not required to check every trip.

New Yorkers traveling out of state must be tested for the virus within four days of their return.

Meanwhile, Cuomo said the state’s targeted shutdown or “microprocessor approach”, at viral hotspots in Brooklyn and Queens, is working, based on anecdotal evidence from hospitals. and health care facility.

“I believe we have attracted their attention in the red areas and increased enforcement has captured their attention. They are not satisfied with me but the rate of infection has dropped and I believe I have done my job ”.

The average percentage of positives in the public neighborhoods of the state is 3 percent.

New York’s statewide positive rate is 1.49 percent – the third lowest nationally.

Maine has 0.97% positivity, after 0.53% of Vermont, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Without hot spots, he said, the state’s positive rate dropped to 1.3%.

“New Yorkers should be really proud of what they’re doing,” said Cuomo. “Ranked third in the country is very good.”
