Fox News stars join the Kamala Harris festival

Fox News was in full attack mode on Tuesday night, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Kamala Harris. From portraying her as a “radical mate” to mocking her name pronunciation to suggesting that Joe Biden didn’t actually pick her up on his own, the conservative network’s main time roster is overgrowth.

Honestly, if you stripped the network’s programming for any identifier or label and watched only the recording of the hours from 8pm to 11pm, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the channel for the evening live stream Trump 2020 campaign.

That’s not surprising, of course. The alliance between Fox News and President Trump is well documented. But Tuesday night̵

7;s attacks served as a guide to what the Trump campaign and the right-wing media in general would throw at Harris. So I think it would be helpful to provide a trace of network coverage here.

Although her show is technically out of prime time, I think what’s remarkable is how Martha MacCallum – who is marketed by Fox News as a “straight news” journalist – mentioned the Harris selection. During the opening of his show, MacCallum noted that black leaders had urged Biden to choose a woman of color as his mate. MacCallum remarked, “I think, as a woman, in some ways it removes some options.”

Carlson scoffed at the name

Tucker Carlson started his program attacking Harris as a “one-way” candidate, whom he described perhaps as “the only human trader in America.” There are “more sincere time-sharing sellers you can trust” than Harris and “more sincere short-term lenders,” says Carlson.

But it was Carlson’s mockery of Harris name that drew the most attention. Carlson repeatedly mispronounced the senator’s name, even being called by guests for doing so. Carlson asserted that his miscommunication was unintentional. But it should be noted that Carlson often mispronounces the names of people he doesn’t like. It’s a feature on his show, and it sounds pretty intentional. And, as Mediaite pointed out, he continues to do so after his guest fixes him.

Hannity and Trump teamed up to bash

Sean Hannity’s opening monologue is quite predictable – and it’s not hard to imagine Hannity recounting the same monologue to any other candidate under consideration. Hannity framed Harris as an advocate of socialism with a “radical activism” as “brutal.” In the words of Hannity: “This option reinforces what is the most extreme that is far from the mainstream of any major political party in US history.” And so on, when Jeanine Pirro openly said she was “not sure” Biden himself actually chose Harris and wondered, “Who really chose this woman as the vice presidential candidate?”

Trump eventually called the show and the two continued to beat Harris. Trump doesn’t quite say anything new or notable. He argues that Biden has no control over the Democratic Party – although it will formally nominate him for the presidency next week – and is against the media for a while. It is worth noting that it was not in Hannity: coronavirus’s conversation. Hannity only campaigned lightly with Trump on the topic at the end of his more than 30-minute conversation.

Meanwhile, Ingraham swept the bottom of the barrel

Laura Ingraham kicked off her show by maintaining the theme from the right-wing media that Biden would not actually control his White House. Ingraham read what she describes as “telling each other” from Biden’s email to backers, in which he said, “I’ve decided that Kamala Harris is the best person to help me fight Donald. Trump and Mike Pence and then lead this national war that began January 2021. “

Ingraham then commented, “Wait, wait, to lead this country? Aren’t you supposed to be at the top of the ticket to doing all that leads us, Joe? You know, whole. set of presidency after that? Come on, man. Even Joe is smart enough to understand that he won’t actually run the show if he wins November. “Ingraham deserves credit for having extrapolate all that from an innocuous line in the Biden campaign email.
