EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Saturday’s El Paso hospital disaster worsened, with a record 1,064 people currently hospitalized for COVID-19. There were also 315 patients in the ICU and 169 on mechanical ventilation.
Four other deaths have been reported, including a woman in her 30s, a woman in her 40s, a man in his 50s, and a man in his 90s. The city claims it all. all four victims have basic medical conditions. The total number of deaths caused by the virus was 661 people.
There were 1,020 new cases of COVID-19 recorded on Saturday with 232 delayed results. For the first time since the pandemic started, El Paso passed 10,000 cases in just one week. As of Saturday, there were 24,562 active cases – 40.2 percent of all cases since March are now considered active.

El Paso Police also announced that they would begin enforcing the County’s shutdown order with immediate effect. The closure order requires all non-essential businesses, including restaurants, hair salons, nail salons, gyms, tattoo salons and massage parlors to close until November 11, unless the order is renewed. Restaurants are only allowed to operate on a take-out basis.
