Dinosaurs can cross oceans in Africa, the new fossil suggests



Experts have recently discovered fossils of a platypus species in Africa – a sign that dinosaurs can swim across oceans to reach different continents.

What’s going on?

Scientists have recently discovered fossils of a new species of dinosaur called Ajnabia odysseus, a species of platypus and herbivores.

  • The fossils were found in Morocco. They are around 66 million years old.
  • The dinosaur, in some cases, could be 49 feet long. But most consider the dinosaur the size of a foal.
  • However, it somehow ended in Africa.

Nicholas Longrich, a senior lecturer at the Milner Evolution Center at the University of Bath who led the study, told CNN that the finding is “about the last thing in the world you would expect.”

  • “It’s completely out of place, like finding a kangaroo in Scotland. Africa was completely isolated by water – so how did they get there? “Longrich said in a statement.

Theory:

Scientists said the speculum must have crossed open water to reach Africa because it was isolated by the oceans at that time. The platypus would have to “raft on debris, float or swim” to get there, according to a statement.

  • It is also possible that they swim long distances because “they have large tails and strong legs, and are often found in river sediments and sea rocks, so they can only swim from afar,” according to a statement.

“Sherlock Holmes said, once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however unlikely, must be true,” said Longrich. “Can’t walk to Africa. These dinosaurs evolved long after continental drift split continents, and we have no evidence of land bridges. Geology tells us that Africa is isolated by oceans. If so, the only way to get there is by water ”.
