Denver Broncos football executive chairman / general manager John Elway and team president and chief executive Joe Ellis have tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced Tuesday.
“In addition to mild symptoms,” the team said, “both Joe and John are fine. They will continue to work from home in isolation from themselves and join virtual meetings while in their health. followed.”
Broncos said they believe the incident originated outside of team facilities. There is very little established affinity for each person, with no coach or player involved.
According to Broncos, 60-year-old Elway left the team facility on Monday morning after experiencing minor symptoms and making the team̵7;s medical staff aware.
Ellis, 61, was not feeling well on Sunday morning and reported her symptoms to the team’s medical team. He sees Sunday’s home game as a precaution – Broncos’s first home game that Ellis missed in 26 years. He continued to work from home on Monday before receiving a positive test result on Tuesday.
Broncos already have three assistant coaches that follow the tournament’s COVID-19 protocol – Curtis Modkins, Mike Munchak and Ed Donatell.
The Broncos (3-4) visit the Atlanta Falcons (2-6) on Sunday.
