FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – Data from the North Dakota Department of Health on COVID-19 has shown a significant increase in cases in school-age patients since the start of school year 2020- 21.
Looking at the numbers here in Cass County, between March 9 and August, there were 510 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection aged 19 or younger.
Between September 1 and October 30, there were 1,076 confirmed cases, more than double the number reported before the school year began.
This also extends to Burleigh County, where the number of COVID cases also doubled in that same age group.
There have been 332 confirmed COVID-19 cases in that county as of August, and there have been 781 reported cases since.
There was another sharp increase in Grand Forks County, reporting 290 cases between March and August and 530 cases from early September to October 30.
There is no solid evidence that these numbers are directly related to school attendance at this time, but data show a sharp increase in new cases among the age group 19 and younger since the beginning of the year. learn.
