Apple is planning to reveal a series of subscriptions along with its new iPhones this October according to Bloomberg. Internally, these packages are referred to as “Apple One”, although that’s not necessarily the name by which they will launch.
A number of different tiers will be available, starting with the basic combination of Apple Music and Apple TV +, while the more expensive plans will add Apple Arcade, followed by Apple News + on the next level, then add iCloud storage to that superior.
The more premium plans are reportedly going to include an unprecedented fitness subscription service from Apple. This will provide virtual classes and exercises accessible through the iOS app and on Apple TV, similar to Nike and Peloton offerings.
Bloomberg say that these packages will be marketed to families, and they̵7;ll work with Apple’s Family Sharing system, meaning each service can be accessed by up to six people. As you would expect with subscriptions, buying them is cheaper than buying individual services. As Bloomberg “For example, if a family registers today with all the major Apple services plus the highest level of iCloud storage, that would be around $ 45 a month. A new bundle can cost you over $ 5 off. “
Bloomberg reports that in addition to these packages, Apple plans to start offering new software and hardware combinations, like including a year of free Apple Arcade with the purchase of an Apple TV streaming box. However, Bloomberg Apple has no plans to include monthly payments for iPhone or Mac with these immediate plans, a possibility that Apple CEO Tim Cook has alluded to in the past.
There are no specific pricing or exact configuration details for each package yet, and it is likely that these will change before the plans are announced later this year.
There have been reports of Apple’s plans to offer subscriptions since at least 2018, but they seem much more specific. Just last month, the code found in iOS 13.5.5 mentions both “bundle offers” and “bundle subscriptions” and in 2019, the company was testing student packages, bundling Apple Music and Apple. TV +.
Apple has increasingly focused on recurring revenue from its services business in recent years, especially as sales from smartphones soar. And as Amazon demonstrated with Amazon Prime, which combines faster delivery times with music and video streaming, subscriptions can generate regular income while locking customers into the company’s ecosystem. . Once you’ve bought Prime, you should order more from Amazon. Apple subscriptions can do the same for its services and hardware.
