The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is near, and fans can get ready by preloading the game early on each platform.
We already have some details on when and how players across all platforms can start preloading Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, based on the PlayStation store listing.
And we’ll continue to update this post as Activision provides more info on preloads before the game launches.
Here’s everything you need to know for each platform.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War preload process for PlayStation 4 will begin on Thursday, November 5, or Friday, November 6 depending on your region.
All players on PS4 who have pre-ordered the digital version of Black Ops Cold War can start preloading their game in those days. The specific time will be announced soon, but for now, PlayStation Store says it will start on November 6 at 12 a.m. ET for North America.
For PS4, similar to Modern Warfare, there will be content packs to download for each of the game’s three modes. Currently, PlayStation Store in Europe is listing the following packages in the following sizes (thanks @MadmanoStrikes):
- Dead Ops: 4.8 GB

- Campaign Package 2: 17.9GB
- Campaign pack 3: 11.5GB
- Zombies Base Install: 3.8GB
- Multiplayer base setting: 10.6GB
Current total is 62GB of downloads, but we are expecting more content packs for the game ahead of launch, as more games are added to stores.
We’ll be updating this post once we see the official preloading begin on PS4.
For customers who receive PlayStation 5 on launch date, you will be able to pre-load Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War immediately upon receiving the console. For those getting their November 12, make sure to upload to the PlayStation Store to begin downloading right before the November 13 launch.

Currently, the Microsoft Store lists Black Ops Cold Was as a 100GB game, but that could change as the preload information gets closer.
For Xbox Series X owners | S, you will be able to preload Black Ops Cold War upon your console on Tuesday, November 10.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on PC is only available on Blizzard Battle.net. Activision has not officially announced the preload time for PC yet. However, based on last year’s preload, we can expect the preload to start around 3-4 days before the November 13th launch. We will update this post as soon as the final confirmation time is available.
According to Activision’s announcement, Black Ops Cold War is expected to be a 175GB download on PC for the entire game – campaign, multiplayer, and zombie. Separate MP mode will be 50GB.
