Fan Wait for a breath are patiently waiting for the next part. The film captures the lives of four friends as they learn about love, motherhood and career. Thankfully, one of the movie’s stars provided fans with a positive update on a highly-anticipated sequel.
The success of ‘Waiting to Exhale’ was so successful that it inspired a spin-off and sequel movie.
Based on the novel of the same name by Terry McMillian, Wait for a breath was released in 1995 by FOX. The film has been a huge success with both critics and viewers alike, grossing more than $ 80 million at the box office.
A follow-up novel, Began to be happy, was released in 2010. The book picks out 15 years later with each of the four characters in different stages of their lives. McMillian told CNN in a 2010 interview that the bitter divorce prompted her to write the book, explaining.
After the divorce, I was really bitter, angry, and I started meeting a lot of other women of my age – between the mid 40s and the late 50s were just upset. So when trying to discover what it can take to get us back to happiness, so to speak, I just come up with four different situations where I know a lot of women have to deal with. I realized that I had told the stories of four different heroines before, and realized that those women were perfect candidates for telling other stories.

FOX has purchased the copyright for the movie Began to be happy and all four actors from the original film signed on to star in the film. Unfortunately, Whitney Houston’s death in 2012 caused the movie to come to a halt. According to Noire, McMillian told Sister 2 Sister Magazine that she was not interested in participating in the film’s creation process without Houston.
“It’s been awful since Whitney [Houston] She passed away for many reasons. “Basically, Fox wants to completely remove that character from the story. I don’t know how they think that will work. ”
Loretta Devine says the sequel to the ‘Waiting to Breathe’ movie is still in the works
While McMillian’s stance on the film appears to remain the same, with her calling the film “dead in the water”, FOX plans to move on. Forrest Whitaker is expected to join directing the film once again, as he did with the first season. Wait for a breath marked Whitaker’s directorial debut.
While talking to Tamron Hall, Loretta Devine talked about the impact of the film and left fans happy with the update on the sequel. Looks like McMillian has changed his heart.
