8 new COVID-19 deaths reported on NETN Friday, active cases decreased by 200 | WJHL



NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Tennessee Health Department reported 256,845 confirmed cases and 16,299 probable cases with COVID-19 in the state on Friday, up a total of 1,373 as of Thursday.

The Ministry of Health also announced 3,324 confirmed deaths, 1,480 current hospitalizations and 246,392 recovered or inactive cases. More than 3.7 million coronavirus assays have been performed.

Eight new deaths have been reported in Northeast Tennessee: three in Unicoi and Washington counties and one in Greene and Johnson counties. Less than one death was reported in Carter County.

TDH reports locally there are 107 new cases: 44 cases in Sullivan County, 23 cases in Carter County, 14 cases in Washington County, 13 cases in Greene County, 7 cases in Hawkins County, and 3 cases in Johnson and Unicoi counties.

The Department of Health also reported 300 cases of inactivity or recovery.

There are currently 2,246 active cases in Northeast Tennessee, down from 2,446 on Thursday.
