MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Upper Michigan increased by 23 coronavirus infections on Saturday.
Gogebic County reports ten new cases. Ontonagon County today has five out of ten of their cases. Marquette County reported four new cases while Mackinac County added two. Chippewa and Alger each report a new COVID-19 case.
No new deaths were reported on Saturday.
As of 3 a.m. on August 8, a total of 646 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in the Upper Peninsula occurred during this outbreak. Out of those, at least 224 are considered to have recovered and 18 resulted in death.
Of the 42,029 diagnostic test results reported to the state from Upper Michigan, 1.29 percent had returned positive for COVID-19 as of August 8.
Michigan reported 698 new cases on Saturday, so the state’s total number of cases climbed to 86,889. Three new deaths were reported statewide, two of which were identified in a Vital Records review, meaning 6,250 people in Michigan died from complications. of the virus. The current number of restorations statewide, updated every Saturday, is 63,636.
